Renting surf: what to know

The Maldives surf season runs roughly March to October — book boards early.

Thulusdhoo (Cokes and Chickens) is the classic North Malé local-island base.
Soft-tops are forgiving for beginners; shortboards suit the reef breaks.
Bring or rent reef booties — most breaks are over shallow coral.
